Tune in to hear Katy and Nathan pair cocktails with amazing women of history. Cheers!
Welcome back, Beautiful Queens! Today’s episode is all about the fascinating life of Empress Cixi of China. She was one of the most powerful women in Chinese history.
Cixi was born in 1835 in a small village in China. She was intelligent and resourceful, and she quickly caught the attention of the emperor’s court.
At the age of 16, Cixi was selected to be one of the emperor’s concubines. This was a great honor, but it also came with a lot of challenges. Cixi had to navigate the complicated politics of the imperial court, and she had to compete with other concubines for the emperor’s attention.
Despite these challenges, Cixi was able to rise through the ranks and become one of the most powerful women in China. She was known for her intelligence, her political savvy, and her ability to get things done.

Divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced… ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Don’t Google it!
We are back to get further into the Life of Katherine Howard, the scandelous fifth wife of Henry VIII, king of England. When we last left Katherine she had just moved to court to become a lady in waiting to the new Tudor queen, Anne of Cleves. But when the king realized he wasn’t into his new queen, his eyes turned to Katherine. Who was like maybe 17 or 18.
He was 50. It’s gross.
Before long, Katherine is the new queen and everything is going really, really well for her.
